The Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine care annually about 25,000 patients in the Protestant Hospital in Duisburg Nord, at St. John Hospital Oberhausen, at the Heart Center Duisburg (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Hospital), the Protestant Hospital Dinslaken and in the rescue of the cities of Duisburg and Dinslaken .
At the Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery operations of adults, children and neonates with and without using the heart-lung machine made. The range includes surgical treatment of all congenital and acquired heart disease, except transplants. The Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery is one of the fifth largest heart hospitals in Germany. In the four available operating rooms annually over 3500 cardiac surgical procedures are performed. Equipped with 22 beds ICU ventilator is cardio surgic line.
Since 2010, the clinic also has a complete training authorization (4 years and 2 years Cardiac Surgery Base Surgery).
